One of Kalam Initiative’s success stories involves a gentleman who reached out to us during a period of serious financial difficulty. A home visit revealed that he suffers from multiple health issues, with elephantiasis being the most debilitating, leaving him unable to work. His wife, who previously supported the family, also lost her job after undergoing a leg operation, worsening their financial situation.
In response to their immediate needs, we provided groceries worth RM500 on two separate occasions, helping to ease the burden of daily living expenses. We also covered a lower limb scan at a private medical centre, which cost RM483 – an essential step in managing his condition. Recognising the needs of his children, we contributed RM263 towards their school necessities, ensuring they could continue their education with confidence.
We are pleased to share that despite the gentleman’s ongoing health struggles, the family is now on a better path. His wife has successfully secured a job, bringing some stability back into their household.
